The mission of the Saint Patrick Music for Charity Series is two-fold;
- First, to provide outstanding musical performances to the Cumberland County community.
- Second, to heighten the awareness of and raise funds for local charities through the performing arts.

 |
| In order to achieve these goals, the series aims to offer 3 or 4 concerts each season entirely free of charge to the public. These concerts are open not just to the parish but to the wider Fayetteville community. At each concert, the benefiting charity is invited to have a display in the church vestibule and to give a brief presentation about their work. A freewill collection is taken at the doors. The series expenses are funded by the generous donations of the Friends of the Music Series, through grants and through the support of Saint Patrick Catholic Church. |

Brass Roots Trio
Gabriel’s Celestial Horns
Friday, September 25, 2009, 7:00 P.M.
Concert Beneficiary: The CARE Clinic

A pioneer of this instrumentation, Brass Roots Trio creates symphonic sounds that melt into sultry jazz, decadent tangos and baroque brilliance - making three instruments sound like a small orchestra! With elegance, exuberant energy and a relaxed stage presence, the trio establishes an immediate connection with their audiences…and it’s always a well-received surprise when the horn player puts down his instrument and sings an operatic aria or spiritual! Exhilarating performances and imaginative programming have established Brass Roots Trio as one of the most compelling ensembles of the 21st century.

Giovanni Pergolesi Franz Schubert
When the idea of presenting Schubert’s Mass in G as part of the concert series was first considered, it seemed only logical to invite Fayetteville’s premier community choir, the Cumberland Oratorio Singers, to be a part of the project. There is no doubt that choral music, accompanied by orchestra, is one of the most expensive art forms to create. By combining the forces of the Cumberland Oratorio Singers with the choirs of Saint Patrick Catholic Church we will be able to present this great work with a much richer orchestral sound and fuller chorus.
The concert will open with Giovanni Pergolesi’s Stabat Mater performed by the CANTATE chamber choir. This ecumenical women’s ensemble, formed and supported by Saint Patrick Church, has been delighting audiences in North Carolina and surrounding states since 1997. The Schubert Mass in G, written when the composer was just 18, is one of the much loved standards of the choral music repertoire. The combination of these two great works makes this a concert not to be missed by any choral music lover.
(All Friends of the Music for Charity Series contributing $50 or more will receive 2 complimentary tickets to this event.)
