The wedding is over! Now it's time to concentrate on your marriage! We want you to have a successful marriage and we want to give you the tools to help you as you begin this new life.

“Becoming married” is a process that takes months or more often years. Only in a life long marriage do we discover whether our spouse is supportive when we’re ill, caring when we’re in trouble, generous when generosity matters, tough-minded in a crisis, understanding of our needs…These are things that can only be revealed gradually, which is one of the reasons why any successful marriage requires a considerable degree of patience.

Because you are God’s chosen ones, holy and beloved, clothe yourselves with heartfelt mercy, with kindness, humility, meekness, and patience. Bear with one another; forgive whatever grievances you have against one another. Forgive as the Lord has forgiven you. Over all these virtues put on love, which binds the rest together and makes them the bond of perfection.    Colossians 3:12-15

Two of the most troubling aspects of American society today are the high rate of divorce and the fact that divorce in one generation increases the likelihood of divorce in the next. Current divorce statistics indicate that most divorces occur in couples married less than 5 years and that the proportion of divorces is highest for couples married 3 years.
(Time, Sex and Money: The First Five Years of Marriage,
Creighton University)

Because of the above findings, it’s highly recommended that couples be supported during their first years of marriage and so we are offering the newly married program at Saint Patrick Church. You will have every opportunity to build a marriage that echoes the love that God has for us; a marriage that is truly a marriage in the Lord.

Your marriage didn’t take place in a church, or you didn’t go through marriage preparation before your ceremony… no problem, we can help you start your life as a couple by building a strong, life-long relationship full of God’s love.

Each month we will explore and discuss a different topic with the idea of how to make your marriage a strong, life-long lasting experience of witnessing God’s love.
Couples have an opportunity to communicate with each other on the topic presented and then a time to share in a small group setting. These sessions are led by mentoring married couples that share their story, their faith and their experiences along their journey in marriage. These couples  assist newly married couples during this transitional time in their life as newly married couples.
